Health Certificates and Interstate Travel

At Hernando Veterinary Services, we are dedicated to your pets good health.  We provide health certificates in accordance with the State of Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services under the division of Animal Industries. Interstate travel certificates are required for any animal to travel outside of the state of Florida.  Health certificates (Florida Statute 828.29)are required for any pet offered for sale in the State of Florida (adult and babies have different requirements).  We are able to provide either one of these certificates in a timely manner.  If you have multipule animals please call to schedule an appointment so that we will be able to better serve your needs. International certificates are available with advance notice.

Breeders, we will gladly help with your sales needs in any way possible and welcome you to our business.  You will find that our certifcates are affordable and we offer personalized service.

Heartworm Testing & Prevention:
We recommend heartworm testing once a year for any pet. Heartworm medication is recommended once a month in order to prevent heartworm infestation. It only takes ONE infected mosquito to pass the disease to your pet.  Contact us for more information today.  Remember that heartworm medications are guaranteed by the manufacturer when the preventative is purchased through a licensed veterinarian and your pet is tested yearly.  Mosquito season is all year in Florida and it is a small price to pay for the extra years your pet and you will have together.  Also many heartworm preventatives also help control certain internal parasites when used as directed, so this helps to give your pet and you some added protection.
